ADAM AND EVE AND THE FALL

While we are all familiar with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, there may still be some aspects of this story that warrant a closer analysis of the underpinnings of the fall itself.

We know that Adam and Eve lived in a different state in the original Garden of Eden; that they had a different energy signature, likely of a shorter wavelength (i.e.: faster) and that they were likely covered with light stemming from this different energy signature or frequency.  Since their energy signature allowed them to dwell with God, they were of a compatible energy. Suffice it to say that their innocence and souls were intact.

God gave them a gift, free will, the power to choose to remain with their Creator and trust in His advice or to suffer the consequences of ignoring His advice and “doing it their own way.”  Unlike what most people think, Adam and Eve’s choice points to more than just misguided curiosity, a lack of discernment or even a natural urge to acquire knowledge.

Genesis 2:16-17 “And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Genesis 3:4-5You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.  “For God knows that when you eat from it (the tree of knowledge of good and evil) your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Their choice was actually a message to God that they doubted what He had said to them, that they didn’t trust Him.  Instead, they chose to trust the Serpent, their Adversary, a being they didn’t even know, resulting in them moving away from God thereby losing their immortality and the knowledge of all that is good which they had received from God.

Strangely enough, Adam and Eve were already like gods dwelling with God, sharing all knowledge of truth and life that God imparted to them and they were immortal. Satan’s simple strategy was to bluff and allude to some elusive knowledge or power they didn’t have and could not access, thus arousing unfounded curiosity in them. This was however enough for them to disobey God and thus they lost everything in this gamble, their immortality, the knowledge of truth and life and their divine energy signature, that is to say, their angelic garment.

Genesis 3-22-24: “And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

While the passage from Genesis above indicates that God had to drive Adam and Eve away from the Garden, they were actually the ones to move away from God. Their decision resulted in them mistrusting their Maker which likely changed their energy in the process making them incompatible with God and His realm. Further, having access to the “knowledge of evil” without the spiritual maturity to discern between good and evil was a recipe for disaster. God had to keep them from eating from the tree of life to prevent them from becoming immortal in their fallen state. God then proceeded to warn them that their lives would become much more difficult (in their new world) due to their interest in “knowing” evil.

This may sound obvious however many people interpret the fall as God punishing Adam and Eve for being curious and think that God turned His back on them because they sought knowledge.  Some people think God is a negative and controlling being who wanted to keep Adam and Eve in a state of ignorance and submission. Nothing could be further from the truth.  As mentioned before, Adam and Eve already had much more in the garden than they were ever able to acquire after the fall. The fall was caused by the intrinsic energy of their choice which resulted in their estrangement from God.

Understanding that sin is anything that moves us away and keeps us away from God (Read blog: What is Sin?), essentially anything tethering the soul to the world system, will help us understand that our Creator never turned His back on us, we simply moved away from Him. Tempted by curiosity, we left our divine condition and immortality to go to the valley of the shadow of death. This brought about the introduction of sin and corruption into the soul.

Tasting of the tree of knowledge of good and evil meant that our ancestors who had previously only been exposed to what was good, would then “know” or experience, along with their descendants, evil as well.  In the bible, to “know” something means you will have intimate knowledge of it, to “know” someone for example in the biblical sense means to have sexual intercourse with this person.  When Adam and Eve chose to trust the Serpent at the expense of their relationship with God, in order to “know” evil, it was akin to signing a marriage contract with the world of darkness and its ruler and breaking their marriage bond with God.  We cannot be with God and the fallen world at the same time, we cannot have a little bit of God’s Spirit and a little bit of the Spirit of darkness in us – These are completely incompatible:

1 John 1:5: […] God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

2 Corinthians 6:14Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

We are now born into the Kingdom of darkness, in a body that keeps the soul tethered to the world. Despite the fact that God keeps our soul attached to him by the “silver cord,” we must still exercise our free will in order to choose to return to Him.

Do not forget that Satan and the fallen angels do not have more knowledge than God; they were given a certain amount of knowledge and what they offer humanity in this realm is the inverted version of this knowledge. In other words, before the fall Adam and Eve were in a position to acquire all of God’s knowledge to be used for good. They could have been granted more knowledge as they evolved with God under His guidance. The only knowledge available here is a corrupted and inverted version of the limited knowledge held by Satan and the rebellious angels before their fall.

We must overcome the trials foisted on the soul, we must not join in the world spiritually-speaking but if we have already joined in, we must come out of it and we must break the tethers of the world on our soul to return home.  As stated in the bible, “we cannot serve two masters”, we will either serve God and his Kingdom and eventually return home or move further away from Him through our choices.  There are no other paths.

One world represents truth and immortal life while the other is the mirror image representing deception and death.

The choice is yours.
