THE MARK OF CAIN VERSUS THE SEAL OF GOD

After Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the garden, God allows them to bring into the world two sons, the first one, Cain, a rebellious son whereas his brother Abel, an obedient son. While many focus on the DNA of each son and make an argument that Cain was from the serpent seed, I do not find it necessary in order to understand the message conveyed by this story.

We already know that Satan can influence souls to do that which is bad as long as he respects free will and that Satan can put souls to the test if God approves of his request. Once Adam and Eve were tested by Satan in the garden and failed the test, we can assume that Satan didn’t stop there and that he may have asked God for a less spiritually-inclined soul to incarnate into Cain’s body, the firstborn, a soul that would have been more likely to heed the call of the world rather than the call of the Holy Spirit. God may have agreed to this request for good to come of it in the end.

The name Cain in Strong’s Concordance (H7014 – qayin) means possession as in a material acquired being.

The name Abel in Strong’s Concordance (H1893 – heḇel) means breath as in the breath of God.

Why would Satan ask for this? Because the firstborn is normally supposed to be consecrated to God and Satan loves to imitate and take for himself whatever God has already claimed for Himself. A soul that was more worldly would likely be consecrated to the world and its values and therefore to Satan.

Why would God have allowed this? To let Adam and Eve learn through experience what they had done to Him. Let’s not forget that God loves His children and while Adam and Eve disobeyed Him, He still loved them just as parents love their children.

God may have wanted them to learn: 1) the nature of the Adversary they chose to trust instead of their own Father and, 2) what it was like to give all of their love and nurturing to children only to be betrayed by one of them who would not only reject their values but also kill their other son leaving them only with grief. God let Adam and Eve experience the pain of betrayal and loss a parent undergoes in such circumstances and also the sense of powerlessness a parent feels when trying to protect his/her children while looking on as the Adversary comes after them to take then down. Adam and Eve must have noticed that Satan had a hold on Cain and they must have suffered from their lack of power to make him see the light.

WHY WAS CAIN SO ANGRY?

In the Old Testament, a sanctity was attached to the firstborn of man and of cattle. God said that the firstborn males of man and of animals should be consecrated to Him, the firstborn male as a priest (Exodus 19:22, 24), representing the family to which he belonged, and the animal to be offered up in sacrifice.

While the book of Exodus had not yet been written at the time Cain and Abel were born, it is assumed that it was known that a blood sacrifice was required to atone for sins and be sanctified in order to approach God. God had carried out the sacrifice of an animal immediately after Adam and Eve sinned in order to cover their sins with the blood and to create garments for them. God had also covered them with human skin as they were found to be “naked”, i.e.: no longer covered by God’s righteousness or by the angelic body – the Oikētērion.

A firstborn consecrated son or priest would be expected to carry out an animal sacrifice to atone for his sins in order to approach God. Cain as the firstborn with the responsibilities associated with that position, was supposed to be consecrated to God and sanctified (i.e.: pure and without sin) when approaching God. Since every soul was born into sin after the fall, it would have been expected that Cain would have recognized his sinful nature and brought an animal sacrifice to approach God but instead he brought fruit from the ground, (agricultural produce), whereas Abel the second-born son brought an animal sacrifice.

Leviticus 17:11 – “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Hebrews 9:22– “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

Today, accepting the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ in faith to atone for our sins cleanses a believer of all sins, (this is the washing of our robe, or the soul, in the blood of the lamb), and this replaces the need to sacrifice animals. By accepting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to pay for our sin debt, we can approach God in our desire to develop an intimate relationship with Him as we are being made new by the Holy Spirit and the Grace of God.

John 14:6 – “ Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

NATURE, NURTURE OR FREE WILL?

The passage of Cain and Abel’s offering to God in the bible demonstrates that while Abel recognized his sinful nature and was repentant, Cain did not see himself as a sinner or recognize a need for repentance and forgiveness. He therefore approached God with a prideful disposition.

Genesis 4:3-7 “Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.

God tries to reason with Cain telling him that if he does what is right, he will be accepted but if he chooses to turn away from Him, sin is lurking around him waiting to take him over.

Instead of taking God’s advice and doing the right thing, Cain becomes jealous and angry with his brother who was obeying God and chooses to kill him. Both sons had been raised by the same parents and while we can assume that one soul may have been more spiritually inclined at birth than the other, both were able to learn and were free to exercise their free will and change their ways if they so chose.

Unlike Hagar, an Egyptian servant to Sara, (wife of Abraham), who was a Gentile and who after being warned by the Angel of the Lord in the wilderness that she was going down the wrong path, chose to obey and submit (read THE ELECT VERSUS THE GENTILES), Cain chose to continue to rebel.

Cain knew that to approach God one had to repent and be sanctified (purified). It seems obvious that Cain did not feel he had anything to repent about and approached God with the attitude that he was good enough as he was – perhaps he was even washing his hands of any responsibility with regards to his nature: I was born this way therefore why should I repent about anything or change? This attitude completely ignores the responsibility associated with free will.

Instead of submitting to God’s will to understand His mind and His ways, Cain chose the world and hated his brother for being righteous and for choosing God. This is very common in the world; the “worlders” are free to change if they want to please God but instead they become jealous, covetous and hateful towards the born-again souls. This is non-sensical behaviour as it only leads those souls to spiritual death beyond the physical death.

This passage of the bible is also about those chosen or called by God who forfeit their inheritance with God and choose the world instead. In the case of Cain and Abel, Cain as the firstborn forfeits his inheritance from God to be of the Firstfruits of the Harvest to come by choosing the world whereas his younger brother Abel, the second in line, steps in to accomplish what was required of the firstborn for God’s inheritance.

This theme is carried out throughout the bible, from Ishmael and Isaac, to Esau and Jacob, to Reuben and Judah, to the Remnant of the 10 tribes of Jacob (Israel) and the Tribes of Judah (combined forming the Elect) versus those Gentiles who will accept Christ as their Messiah in the End Times to inherit what the Elect was originally called to inherit. In this last example, it should however be noted that the Remnant of the Elect may also recognize Christ as the Messiah in the End Times. God of course wants all of His “children in the making” to return to Him and for none to be lost.

Cain’s reaction to God’s advice is a little bit like saying, “I don’t want any expectations put on my shoulders and I don’t really care about God’s inheritance but I don’t want anybody else to make different choices and have access to this inheritance.

Matthew 23:13 – “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.”

While the above verse was addressed to teachers of the Law and Pharisees, it defines very well the hypocrisy of the unsaved that do not want to enter God’s kingdom but hate and become jealous of those who want to. It is a bizarre mindset. Especially when they continuously tout coexistence, tolerance, inclusion, openness and respect…

All souls, no matter their nature at birth have the same opportunity to choose to obey God or to turn against Him. Many souls are born into difficult environments and are not nurtured by their parents and yet in their suffering turn to God, therefore neither nature nor nurture guarantees the outcome of a soul’s progress. Many of the unsaved find excuses instead of making the effort.

There are however some grave injustices where children are broken down at a young age, sexualized and/or exposed to occult practices and their souls become so fragmented as to invite malevolent entities which prevent these children or young adults from making informed sensible free will decisions on the direction of their soul. They should realize that God knows the depth of each heart and the hardships that all souls have had to overcome and that He does not abandon His children.

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

A soul’s progress is dictated by its willingness to exercise its Free Will to seek out truth and God’s will and, an openness to repent and a desire to please God and change. A soul that does not seek to please God is a soul that does not respect its Creator.

GOD LET’S CAIN LIVE AFTER HE KILLS ABEL

Genesis 4: 13-15 “And Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear! Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me.”

And the Lord said to him, “Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the Lord set a mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.”

Notice here that all of a sudden, Cain is saying that being away from God is too great a punishment after he had refused to do God’s will previously. It is quickly followed by his fear that someone would kill him after he just killed his brother. Of note, Cain feels no remorse for killing his brother as he remains unrepentant, he is mainly about self-preservation as he complains God is being unjust with Him. God however accommodates his concerns such that he would be without excuse, by marking him before his exile to ensure he would not be killed. This mark will allow Cain to live in the world long enough to allow him to learn what he needs to learn and give him an opportunity to redress his behaviour (second chance).

CAIN’S EXILE

After his exile, Cain had a son named Enoch and founded a city named after him in the Land of Nod. His genealogy leads to the birth of Tubal-Cain who was the first blacksmith who was thought to have created weapons of brass and iron and, his sister Naamah thought to be connected to the Naamah of the Zohar who was one of the first women to have copulated with the grigori (the watchers/ fallen angels) and the birth of the Nephilim (half man-half angel beings). The Book of Enoch, while not scriptural, speaks of this event which is alluded to in Genesis 6 and the book of Jude, indicating that these fallen angels taught humans metal-working, including the making of ornaments and the creation of weapons.

The fact that Cain was a murderer who did not repent of killing his brother, combined with Tubal-Cain who was the first blacksmith who made weapons and, the possibility that Naamah may have been one of the women to copulate with fallen angels gives us a good idea that Satan was involved in Cain’s life from the beginning and intended to see him fall. Cain did not fight him off, there is no indication that he ever repented to God. His bloodline is said to have died in the flood.

SONS OF CAIN” AFTER THE FLOOD

While many have artificially continued the line of Cain after the flood through their allegiance with the fallen angels in order to acquire knowledge, thinking that God through His Holy Spirit could not offer more useful and lasting knowledge, it is a path that does not lead to eternal life. Choosing the world and choosing to worship fallen angels is equivalent to worshipping idols and rejecting God. This ensures one bears the mark of Cain.

THE SEAL OF GOD VERSUS THE MARK OF THE BEAST

In the end of days, Jesus returns for all who call on His name and recognize Him as the Messiah. At that time, Believers are marked with the Seal of God on their forehead. They are protected by God’s angels before being taken up to God’s Kingdom.

Revelation 7:3-4 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

Revelation 7:9-14 “I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. […] “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Revelation 9:4 “They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

It is possible that some souls that are not part of the 144,000 from the tribes of Israel have already gone through their tribulation period during their life but the others entering the tribulation period can as made clear in the Word of God clean their robes (soul) in the blood of Christ and be taken to Heaven. These are those to be grafted in the olive tree, the Gentiles.

Those who are not saved will be asked to take the mark of the Beast on their forehead or on their right hand to confirm their allegiance to Lucifer/Satan which will allow them to live in the world, work, buy and sell. The mark of the Beast as the mark of Cain, does not open a door out of the world but ensures a soul stays in the world construct – this is especially bad when the world is about to be destroyed. For more on this, read THE MARK OF THE BEAST.

Revelation 14:9-11 “Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

While there is no redemption for those who take the mark of the Beast, those who are unsaved when entering the tribulation but refuse to take the mark of the Beast and call out to Jesus to be saved will be redeemed and will ascend to the new world.

Revelation 20:4-6 “And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

Even if the redeemed die during the tribulation, those who washed their robes in the blood of Christ will not see their souls die and they will be resurrected and rule with Christ during the Millennium (The Millennium Reign – The Changing of the Guard). They will then go to the New World, (the Promised Land, the New Jerusalem or the Holy City descending from Heaven).

Do not let fear dictate your free will choice to save your soul. Don’t be Marked by the Beast, be Sealed by God.
