WHAT IS THE SOUL?

What is the SOUL?  Seems like many people these days sidestep this word altogether.  They seem to arbitrarily replace it with the word consciousness and further dilute it when delving into the notion of transhumanism, reducing a human being to a collection of data that could be transferred into a machine.  Of course, anybody who takes the time to look within, to look at their true self, their unique personality, the essence of their being, knows deep down that they are much more than a collection of data, much more than their flesh body.

What gives you life, allows you to breathe, what created you and what were you before you were born into a physical body?  Where do you come from?  Where are you going?  Who are you?

The SOUL, often depicted as an egg illustrating the embodiment of life, is the breath of God which animates the body God created for you in order that as a spiritual being you may experience a physical experience in this world. Your SOUL remains attached to God by what is referred to in Scriptures as the “silver cord”.

 Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Your SOUL is a divine spark of God filled with potential, the potential to become an immortal child of God and return home.  The SOUL is your true essence and personality but it is also a container of sorts.  Just as your flesh BODY contains you (your SOUL), your SOUL contains something as well. What is that something?  SPIRIT.  The nature of the SPIRIT inhabiting your SOUL is at the crux of free will and the very reason why you were born here.

Your unique being is intrinsically woven into your SOUL which is also the breath of God.  When you are born into the material world of duality which is the upside-down tree, the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you are surrounded and are bathing in the energies of this material world and since this world is a fallen world, the SOUL is bathing in a mix of lesser light and obscurity.  Therefore, when you incarnate, you already receive within your SOUL some of the spiritual energy of the material world which is the opposite energy from that found in the Kingdom of God. This supports the notion that we are all born into sin and the necessity therefore to make a choice to come out of it. The choice in question being whether to consciously follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God or that of the fallen spirits who rule the world.

As everybody knows and as confirmed in the Book of Job among others, the world is under the control of Satan, the Serpent or the Great Dragon, etc. … Scriptures also confirm this through Satan’s failed attempts to sway Jesus off the straight and narrow path in the desert during His 40-day fast.  In this passage it is made clear that Satan seeks worship and adoration from the souls.  The souls he can’t “recruit”, he persecutes.  The cosmic egg with a serpent wound around it as shown above is therefore pretty accurate.

The kingdom of God being the Kingdom of Truth and Life finds its shadow reflection in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil or the Kingdom of Deception and Death.

When the SOUL incarnates into a flesh body, it is therefore automatically tainted by dark energy and finds itself filled with a mixture of shadow and its original light.

To have a soul filled with a mixture of worldly spirits and darkness and a little bit of the Holy Spirit is impossible.  The Holy Spirit will not share a space with incompatible energy within your SOUL.

While the Kundalini symbol depicted as a white snake intertwined with a black snake (energy channels or nadis) or the taijitu symbol of the YIN/ YANG claim that by awakening and balancing the opposite energies of darkness and light will lead you to an awakening or to wholeness (“the two halves that together complete wholeness”), it should be noted that the world only offers darkness and lesser light which are merely two arms of the same beast, which in the end only result in keeping your soul tethered to the world.

The world or the tree of knowledge of good and evil therefore offers a false duality which merely offers the illusion of choice because whatever is presented leads to the same result and keeps your soul here.  A control framework used consistently in the world is the Hegelian Dialectic, where thoughts and actions are guided into false conflicts that lead to fake solutions which can only be introduced once those being manipulated take a side that will advance the predetermined agenda – i.e.: controlled opposition, problem-reaction-solution.

In other words, the world does not present an environment where free will can really be exercised.  The SOUL must therefore seek the only true choice being offered which is to either stay in the world or leave the world by the gate opened by God’s Son. Don’t ever expect the world system to speak of or promote the value of this gate and encourage SOULS to know about it though, for obvious reasons. If you sincerely seek the truth and the gate out of the world (the Way), the Holy Spirit will guide you – “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7) .

The only divine light of truth and life is found in the Holy Spirit and a SOUL can only be filled by that SPIRIT once it calls on God asking to be born again by the blood sacrifice of Christ in order to be justified of all sins and be reborn by the Holy Spirit – It is the SOUL’s free will decision to choose to be transformed.  You cannot create out of your flesh body a temple for God without the Holy Spirit.  Your SOUL and BODY cannot be transformed by the Holy Spirit unless you are reborn through the Holy Spirit.

Hence, at birth you are by default born away from God tethered in a world which stains your SOUL. The fact that you are born away from God and kept away from Him means that you are born into sin (read blog on What is Sin?). However, you are also born with the free will to choose to return to your divine home just like the prodigal child. You must exercise that free will or remain in the world by default. Sitting on the fence thinking that a choice is not necessary in order to be saved is guaranteeing your fall as by default you are tethered to the world from birth.  To provide some imagery for this, let’s look at Humpty Dumpty:

“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Couldn’t put Humpty together again.”

This poem is pretty accurate.  Humpty Dumpty seems to be an egg (i.e.: a soul) sitting on the fence, who then “falls” and is broken.  The earthly king’s men cannot restore him to his previous condition as only God, His Son and the Holy Spirit can mend a broken SOUL.  Once, a soul has fallen into the world, it is fragmented.  Indeed, a soul that is part of the world must repent, turn to Jesus Christ to be saved and be reborn through the Holy Spirit.  The “eggshell” or soul can then be healed and restored.

The sooner you remember who you are and start seeing the world for what it is, the sooner you will realize that you need to leave the world to be set free.  Exercise your God-given gift and your right to be reborn and transformed by the Holy Spirit while you still can.

Ecclesiastes 12: 1-7

Remember your Creator

    in the days of your youth,

before the days of trouble come

    and the years approach when you will say,

    “I find no pleasure in them”—

before the sun and the light

    and the moon and the stars grow dark,

    and the clouds return after the rain;

when the keepers of the house tremble,

    and the strong men stoop,

when the grinders cease because they are few,

    and those looking through the windows grow dim;

when the doors to the street are closed

    and the sound of grinding fades;

when people rise up at the sound of birds,

    but all their songs grow faint;

when people are afraid of heights

    and of dangers in the streets;

when the almond tree blossoms

    and the grasshopper drags itself along

    and desire no longer is stirred.

Then people go to their eternal home

    and mourners go about the streets.

Remember Him—before the silver cord is severed,

    and the golden bowl is broken;

before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,

    and the wheel broken at the well,

and the dust returns to the ground it came from,

    and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
